About Yeladim – Fair Chance for Children
Today in Israel, nearly 7,000 children ages 5–18 live in 110 residential group homes and foster families. Removed from unsafe environments, many have endured years of neglect, abuse, violence, and abandonment. Approximately 1,500 of these children have no family support at all.
Yeladim – Fair Chance for Children, recipient of the President’s Award for Excellence, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting, nurturing, and empowering these vulnerable children and youth. For over 30 years, Yeladim has provided educational, therapeutic, social, and legal programs that fill critical gaps not covered by the state. While we receive some government support, our work relies heavily on the generosity of donors, foundations, and corporate partners to continue transforming lives.

Our Key Programs
Bridge to Independence
Provides housing, counseling, and life-skills support to young adults (ages 18–24) leaving group homes or foster care with no family support, giving them the tools to become independent, responsible adults.
Legal Guardianship
Court-appointed social workers provide emotional, legal, and personal guidance for children without families, walking alongside them through childhood, adolescence, and into adulthood.
Educational Resource Centers & Cultural Enrichment
Operates enrichment centers and cultural programs in group homes, giving children access to educational tools, arts, and creative experiences that expand their horizons and build confidence.
Hosting Family Program
Connects children with volunteer host families during holidays and weekends, providing love, warmth, stability, and a sense of belonging that many of these children have never experienced.
Parents as Partners
Strengthens connections between children and their biological families through guided involvement, fostering healing, reconciliation, and long-term positive outcomes.
