Their parents are no more. They are orphans. Although there is a caring facility that takes care of them, there is something wrong. All the kids at the youth village that do have a living parent got released for the summer, but not 110 of them. In 100 degree heat, most of their day is spent inside. Not so fun. When I explained who the games were going to, the toy warehouse added a 10% discount! But then they did the unexpected, and added two games for the orphans, from them for free! Well, being connected to humanitarian aid in Israel is just gratifying, so rewarding to our souls. Above you can see an example of the games that we purchased. Bingo, Scrabble, Monopoly, Chess, Checkers, Battleship (in Hebrew it is called Submarines), Pick Up Sticks, and more. All in Hebrew with Hebrew instructions.
Thanks to Israel Benevolence Fund and other donors, we were able to put on an outreach celebration with full meal for 60 poverty individuals and families who come to the Haifa Downtown Aid Center for second-hand clothing for themselves and their children These are Israelis who struggle to put any food together for this major three-day holiday. This year, all supermarkets, restaurants, and everything else as well was closed for four days straight, Wednesday evening through Saturday evening, for the Rosh Hashanah holiday and then for Shabbat. This long closure hits poverty families the hardest.
