It is difficult to live in a town where Hamas missiles are raining down. Often an Israeli Mom or Dad or child has only two or three minutes from the time an alarm sounds to run to a shelter. More than six thousand missiles hit S’derot last year. With the need to be constantly vigilant against terrorism, with upheavals going on in neighboring countries, and with the rhetoric against Israel coming from many mosques, Israelis live with stress that is hard (at this point) for many in Western countries to understand. Whether it is continuing stress from past Nazi persecution, concern from present Iranian designs and political alliances in flux, or anxieties about the economy or the future of the children, there are many opportunities to stand alongside Israelis with emotional support and prayer. We are told to “rejoice with those who rejoice and weep with those who weep.” Israel Benevolence Fund, with your help, is listening and caring and responding to the needs, spoken or not, that Israelis are experiencing.
