“As temperatures have dropped and electricity and gas prices are on the rise, more individuals throughout Israel lack the means to afford sufficient heating during the winter months. JIJ’s annual blanket distributions therefore become even more vital. Over the course of this winter, JIJ [Jerusalem Institute of Justice] in collaboration with various Knesset members and Messianic Jewish congregations distributed over 1,500 warm winter blankets to needy Holocaust Survivors, Ethiopian families, and lone soldiers.
In conjunction with one its distributions, JIJ along with the Jerusalem Municipality held an elaborate celebration in honor of the Jewish holiday, Tu Bishvat, which celebrates the revival of nature and traditionally observed in Israel by the planting of trees. Over 300 people from multiple generations, including Holocaust survivors, 120 IDF soldiers, and high school students, came together to celebrate the joyous occasion and plant seedlings together. Along with distributing blankets to the Holocaust Survivors, JIJ provided an array of fresh and dried fruit and served fresh-squeezed juices in commemoration of the holiday. The ceremony was accompanied by a professional vocalist, which further created an atmosphere of joy and festivity, causing the crowd to break out into song and dance.
The Jerusalem Institute of Justice would like to thank you for partnering with [IBF and therefore with] us to facilitate such successful social justice campaigns over the winter season. JIJ is committed to combating poverty and upholding the underprivileged in the ongoing struggle for justice within Israel. We are currently preparing for our large Passover distribution of fruits and vegetables, and we hope you will join with us to “raise the poor from the dust and lift the needy from the ash heap” (1 Sam. 2:8).”

IBF is glad to be working with JLJ to meet the needs of Israelis.
